    L.L.Bean is currently seeking a Product Developer II, Men's & Women's Knit Apparel to own the execution of the development of these lines. The successful candidate will support the design merchandising and sourcing teams by maintaining the product development process as it relates to process systems samples and quality execution.

    Responsibilities

    1. Manages the development process of product line from conception through to production.
    2. Works with raw materials sourcing to identify new fabric development needs. Provide fabric development needs to mills and/or suppliers to develop materials that meet strategic direction and cost.
    3. Develop/drive calendar to meet development timelines, production plans and delivery schedules for products and raw materials. Monitor to ensure all deadlines are met.
    4. Ensure Corp Merchant & Design’s vision is met through development of products that meet cost & margin targets, including attention to:  materials, construction, fit, wear/lab testing, performance & function.
    5. Works with key sourcing partners to determine vendors, construction, quality, design, and review & negotiate product costing.
    6. Partners with innovation, research and testing to find new materials and construction techniques.
    7. Maintains FlexPLM system to support the development process.
    8. Maintains consistent flow of information to key partners including Merchandising, Design, Sourcing & Technical Design to ensure that key aspects of the product are clearly communicated.
    9. Generates solutions to problems and takes appropriate action leading to resolution.  Uses collaborative problem-solving skills to generate solutions and able to assert clear point of view.
    10. Delivers engaging and clear presentations to leave audience with deeper understanding and knowledge.  Communicates appropriately for the message and audience, including frequent informal, timely, two-way communication.
    11. Builds collaborative relationships in order to support win-win outcomes.  Sought out as a trusted expert in field.  Effectively advocates for ideas but also remains open to others. 
    12. Demonstrates high discretion and accountability.
    13. Travel to trade shows, factories and mills to research material innovation and construction techniques.
    14. Some overseas and domestic travel required: 5-10%
    15. Performs these and other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • 3-5 years of relevant Product Development or Merchandising experience
    • BA/BS or equivalent required
    • Passion for product and innovation
    • Great aesthetic eye and can interpret trends appropriate for the L.L.Bean brand
    • Solid knowledge of product category, product materials and product development lifecycle required
    • Deadline driven with a track record of delivering excellent results on time
    • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while effectively meeting deadlines
    • Demonstrates strong organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently and manage shifting priorities
    • Ability to collaborate and work effectively on a team
    • Must be able to handle difficult situations in a calm, professional manner
    • Creative problem-solving abilities
    • Excellent computer skills with experience using the Microsoft Office Suite and Specification Management Programs
    • Flexible in ever-changing, fast paced environment
