    L.L. Bean is currently recruiting for a Tax Clerk to join the Tax team based in Freeport, ME. This individual will assist with company compliance of Federal state and local tax laws and regulations through preparation and analysis of tax records and reports.


    • Assist with the sales and use tax returns on a monthly basis
    • Coordinate and prepare all of the documentation needed to support local tax filings
    • Help collect and remit sales and use taxes
    • Maintain books and records to support filings for future sales tax audits
    • Assist with the tax analysis and documentation for preparation of the Company’s quarterly Federal excise tax return
    • Work in excel to analyze data
    • Work with other departments and perform other duties as needed


    Health and Safety Requirement: Ensures compliance with the L.L.Bean comprehensive Health and Safety program by knowing and following all safety guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations. Takes immediate and appropriate action to rectify any unsafe conditions. Ensures compliance of front line employees with comprehensive Health and Safety program.


    • Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills
    • Ability to maintain a high level of enthusiasm, motivation and a positive attitude
    • Established time management and organization skills
    • Capability to build strong partnerships and to work collaboratively to achieve goals
    • Proficient in Excel
    • Self-directed and has a strong willingness to learn
    • Tax, SAP, and Vertex experienced preferred


    Education Level: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred, but not required

    Experience Level: 1 to 2 years
