    L.L.Bean is currently seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician II to work in our Facilities Department located in Freeport.  The successful candidate will be responsible or the mechanical repair and preventive maintenance of both stationary and mobile equipment such as conveyors, fork trucks, sewing equipment, order-pickers. 

     

    This is a full time 3rd shift position which is scheduled 10:30pm through 7:00am.  Occasional overtime will be required, based on business needs.

     

    Workdays will rotate every four months; initially Sunday through Thursday then Monday through Friday.

    • Night-time premium pay for hours worked between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am

    Responsibilities

    • Performs diverse mechanical repair and preventive maintenance functions on a variety of building equipment. Requires an advanced working knowledge of material handling and building mechanical equipment. Works independently within assigned area(s).
    • Conducts intermediate to advanced repairs and adjustment on a variety of building mechanical equipment material handling equipment mobile equipment and other support equipment.
    • Examines equipment to diagnose trouble.
    • Disassembles equipment to repair or replace broken or worn parts.
    • Inspects completed repairs.
    • Provides training and support to other technicians as required.
    • Responsible for design layout and installations of new or additional systems according to work order instructions as assigned.
    • Assists in the training and skill development of other technicians.
    • Performs advanced preventive maintenance functions on a variety of equipment as scheduled. (including all mobile equipment and stationary equipment).
    • Performs other maintenance functions as skills and workload allows (wood and metal fabrication).
    • Provides input to the development of new equipment purchases as necessary.
    • Assures appropriate communication of issues and problems to co-workers and leadership.
    • Collaborates with team as needed to achieve objectives.
    • Knows and follows all safety rules and procedures. Reports any and all unsafe acts or conditions.
    • Assist with seasonal snow removal as needed.
    • Employees working in this position to support peak will be expected and must be available to work fluctuating schedules that may exceed forty hours per week according to business demands.
    • Performs all the functions of a Mechanical Maintenance Technician II.

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience in operatiing company vehicles and powered industrial trucks in a safe, efficient manner.
    • Ability to supply written documentation of daily activities preventive maintenance and repairs.
    • Possesses the communication skill to work with customers and deal with vendors as required.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to apply these skills to all material handling and mobile equipment.
    • Ability to complete assigned tasks independently applying technical knowledge to make decisions as required.
    • Valid driver's license.

    Education Level: Vocational/Technical Degree preferred
